The participation of Mijas in the prestigious World Travel Market (WTM) in London has concluded, according to the councillor for Tourism, Francisco Jerez (Vox), who travelled there, with "very positive results and a clear objective: to open the doors of Mijas to new winter tourists who are looking for a welcoming and safe destination with a wide range of services".
In this edition of the WTM, added the councillor, "Mijas takes another step forward in its international positioning strategy, focusing on strategic markets that value the climate, tranquillity and quality experiences that Mijas has to offer".
Francisco Jerez underlined the "positive impact" of the fair for the municipality and highlighted the attention generated in markets such as the Nordic and Canadian ones. "We have taken this opportunity to approach operators with a high potential and the interest has been remarkable. We saw how the Nordic and Canadian markets recognise Mijas as the ideal destination for winter tourism", explained the councillor, enthusiastic about the future possibilities that these contacts offer.
Nordic and Canadian market
Particularly encouraging has been, said Jerez, the interest of the Nordic market, focused on long stay programmes for the low season, where Mijas is positioned as a winter retreat. "Mijas attracts a type of visitor who seeks peace and good weather for an extended stay, and our offer is perfectly aligned with these expectations", added the councillor, who also stressed that the Scandinavian visitor profile coincides with “the Town Hall's aim on consolidating responsible and quality tourism".
In addition, the Canadian market was, according to the councillor, interested in the potential of Mijas as a winter golf destination."‘With the wide range of high quality golf courses and the unbeatable climate of Mijas, we managed to capture the interest of Canadian operators who see in our municipality a perfect golf destination for the cold months", said Jerez.
Mijas' participation in the WTM has not only allowed us to attract the attention of new markets, but also to strengthen our presence in the British market, consolidating Mijas as a reference point on the Costa del Sol. "We have strengthened our position in the British market and also explored opportunities to extend the influence of Mijas in other European and North American markets", concluded Jerez.
