The councillor for Public Roads makes a very positive assessment of the sixth edition of this gastronomic event, also thanking the involvement of traders

The councillor for Public Roads of the Mijas Town Hall, Mari Francis Alarcón (PP), made, on Wednesday 30th of October, a very positive assessment of the sixth edition of the Mijas Cheese and Wine Festival, which was held from the 25th to the 27th of October in the Plaza Virgen de la Peña and which, said the councillor, "was attended by approximately 2,500 people each day, so we are very happy with the response to the initiative and even the traders who have come from other towns have already asked us to come back next year".

According to the councillor, despite the rain, "many of the traders sold out of all their products, in fact, some cheesemakers ran out of stock on Sunday afternoon". Alarcón also valued the impact that this event had on the rest of the businesses in Mijas, "especially the bars and restaurants in the area, which also benefited from the influx of people".

The traders who took part in the initiative, some of them for the first time, also assured that the presence of both locals and visitors was very high. "It has been a great experience and I am also very grateful to the rest of my colleagues, because there was a very good atmosphere among us. The town was packed and I think that everyone likes these things", said Teresa Ramos, owner of the Bodeguita El Tejo, as was José David Moreno, from the restaurant Radikal, who said he was surprised “because we didn't expect so many people, especially because of the rain, but we are very happy with the weekend”.

After this gastronomic event, the Department of Public Roads is already thinking about future events, this time focusing on Christmas.
