The Virgen de la Peña square welcomed the public with a mixture of aromas in which the floral and fruity smells of the wine were combined with the wide variety of cheeses, to which we must also add the sweet touch of one of the stalls. With this presentation opened on Friday the sixth edition of the Cheese and Wine Festival organised by the departments of Public Roads and Commerce of Mijas.
During the opening, the mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata, explained that "in this first year of the government team we wanted to develop the initiative in a different way, with a lot of representation of local commerce and products".
Most of the stalls were run by local traders, and had a variety of local products, such as Malvajío wine, which, according to Hugo German, distributor of this wine from Mijas, "is a smooth wine processed in French barrels".
During the weekend the festival filled the square with a great atmosphere in which locals and tourists alike enjoyed cheese, wine and musical performances.
