The Opuntia Hotel Boutique, located in the Plaza de la Constitución in Mijas Pueblo, inaugurated last Friday 27th the exhibition of the Argentinean architect Jorge Nestor Nevani Nitto, which was attended by the mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP). The artist, who has lived on the Costa del Sol for 24 years, developed his passion for horses at an early age, even practicing horse riding in the discipline of show jumping, and turning it into the subject of his works of art, which he creates using different techniques related to acrylics on surfaces such as aluminium or canvas.
"This exhibition is a tribute to the horse, also a tribute to the rejoneadores, the famous Spanish gaucho. It also has to do with a fantasy of colour, because it does not reflect a total reality, but a collage of colours, of fantasy...", explained the artist, who uses different techniques in his works, such as acrylic, watercolours and graphite. Nevani, who has exhibited, as well as in Spain, in countries such as Argentina, Uruguay, Venezuela, Peru, China, Austria and Dubai, also creates large-scale murals on surfaces such as vinyl, aluminium, methacrylate and PVC. In this exhibition, which can be visited until the 21st of October, he exhibits murals of accentuated colours and large dimensions, scenes of bullfighters and a tapestry woven in wool, among other works where the horse can be seen drawn realistically or not.
Programme of exhibitions and Art Saturdays
The boutique hotel, which is located in the Plaza de la Constitución, in the heart of Mijas Pueblo, is already a place to visit, as it contains various works of art in its facilities and now it will be even more so, as its owner has several projects related to art. "With the Nevani exhibition, we are inaugurating or starting a programme of exhibitions that we are going to hold periodically in the hotel, which has a great connection with the world of art, because there is art in all the rooms, there are sculptures, paintings and murals, and it seems to me that the exhibitions will be the complement that we were missing", said the hotel's owner, Juan Luis Millán. "Nevani is going to be the one to inaugurate this programme with his exhibition of paintings related to the world of horses. In Mijas we also have many reasons to share his love for horses, because we are one of the municipalities with the highest number of registered horses in the province of Málaga, nearly 2,000 horses", said the mayoress, who emphasised the tranquillity and harmony that exists in the hotel.
In addition to the programme of exhibitions, this month the Opuntia hotel will also start an activity called Art Saturdays, an activity that will allow visitors to see live how an artist develops his or her work, according to Millán.
