1.200 calendars have been produced and will be distributed in exchange for a donation

The Mijas Craft Association presents its new charity calendar for the coming year. On this occasion, the collective collaborates with another entity, the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), and puts the focus on the prevention of breast cancer with all the craft pieces selected having pink as a link.

The creation and dissemination of their annual calendar is one of the big annual events for the association. They always choose a solidarity cause, on this occasion the AECC. The president of the craft association, Sonia Lekuana, explained the reason for this decision: "This year we have focused on breast cancer, because there is more and more of it. That's why each artisan has made a specific product for this moment, with the colour pink as the common thread, and we wanted each month to be an invitation to the fight against breast cancer".

The secretary of the Mijas AECC, Raquel Carrillo, said that "we are very grateful to the association because without these events and activities the work that the association does in research would not be possible. For this, we need this kind of help from other groups and associations that want to collaborate with us".

A total of 16 artisans with their own pieces fill the months of this calendar. All the work is done in solidarity, and the aim, as well as supporting a good cause, is to promote and disseminate the work of local artisans. Another of the collaborations with the association is that of the photographer María López, who said that "I thought it was a very nice and interesting idea, to take the artisans' products, which have a pink touch, and take photographs of them".

A total of 1,200 calendars have been published, which can be collected by making a donation at the association's headquarters, in Puerta del Ágora, and in different craft shops in Mijas Pueblo. The Department of Culture highlighted the great work of this group.

On behalf of the Town Hall, the councillor for Culture, Juan Carlos Maldonado (PMP), who attended the presentation of the calendar, thanked he Mijas Craft Association "for making the calendar for the fifth consecutive year".
