On Sunday 29th was the III Triathlon Villa de Mijas. In which nearly 200 athletes faced a challenging sea, a demanding bike course and a full speed running race.
The morning started with the 750 metres swimming in a challenging sea that made the first round of the competition very difficult. The first out of the water were Alejandro Cañas, winner in 2023, and local Juan Antonio Alarcón, who were also the first to complete the bike route. As for the women, Alicia Soriano and Laura Nuñez were also the first and second respectively to complete these first two stages.
In the 5,000 metres running, the young Javier Linares, who was in third position, managed to overtake Juan Antonio Alarcón, taking second place. Finally, at the finish line, Alejandro Cañas was first with a time of 1:05.06, second place for Javier Linares, with 1:06.19; and third place for Juan Antonio Alarcón, from C.P. Mijas, with 1:02.44.
As for the women, Laura Nuñez, who was in second place, came back in the running race and was proclaimed winner for yet another year, with a time of 1:16.20; followed by Julie Balkarova, with 01:17.10; and Bella Baylis, with 01:17.34. Finally, Alicia Soriano took 4th place.
The councillor for sports, Mari Francís Alarcón congratulated all the participants "for their performance and the Mijas sports club for organising the event".
For his part, the head of events of the Club Polideportivo Mijas, Diego Pino, thanked all the volunteers "for their collaboration, including the Red Cross, Civil Protection, Malaga Lifeguard, Mijas Town Hall and Mijas Communication".
