‘Sveiki’ means hello in Latvian, and this welcoming word has become the root of the festival's name, Esveikifest, and of the association that organises it, Esveiki. Who are they and what does this activity consist of? The president of the collective, Miguel Pérez, told us. "We are a non-profit association in charge of setting up social, sporting and youth rights movements, and now we are organising this bigger event, a party in which we are going to have an area selling football T-shirts, another area to play video games, with health food, we are going to have a bingo, in which we are going to raffle more than 1,000 euros in prizes donated by companies in the area. It's going to be great fun, so we encourage young people participate".
The festival, in which "the values of respect for the environment and sustainability that we defend will be reflected", added Pérez, also has a solidarity aspect, as "all the profits raised, from the sale of T-shirts and the drinks we sell, whatever it is, will go to the Enjipai project, an association represented here by Laura Martínez, from Mijas, which provides humanitarian aid in Tanzania".
The event will take place on the 19th and 20th of October at the Cortijo Don Elías, from ten in the morning to nine in the evening. It is aimed at all ages. "If you want to come with children, perfect, we will have activities for them and for the parents, such as bingo or video games. Everyone will have something to do", concluded Pérez.
Different local companies are collaborating in the event, as well as the Mijas Town Hall, which has lent the space where the event will be held.
