The 1st of October is the International Day of Older Persons, an event that the Mijas Town Hall will commemorate with various initiatives. To start with, next week the centres for the active participation of the elderly will offer drinks and tapas for two euros. As explained by the councillor for Senior Citizens of Mijas Town Hall, Silvia Marín, "we have reached an agreement with those who run the bar service in these centres and from the 30th of September until the 6th of October, they will offer a tapa and a drink for 2 euros to all the pensioners who visit the centres".
In addition, the Town Hall has also organised different meetings in these centres, as Silvia Marín said, "they will take place on the 2nd of October in La Cala, on the 3rd in Las Lagunas and on the 4th in Mijas Pueblo, and during the afternoon, from 17 to 19 hours, the elderly will enjoy a snack, live music and the oldest senior citizen of the district will receive an award".
This programme also includes, in collaboration with the Culture Department, the talk ‘La tele que nos parió’, which will take place on the 4th of October at seven o'clock in the evening in the Manuel España Theatre, with the participation of Mayra Gómez Kemp, Belinda Washington, Manuel Sarriá and José Manuel Parada. Admission will be free until full capacity is reached.
