On Wednesday 25th, the Virgen de la Peña Square, in Mijas Pueblo, became the meeting point for the Tourist Day, a day with which the Mijas Town Hall, through the Tourism Department, thanked all those who this year have chosen the town to spend their holidays or rest days. “We have had thousands of visitors this summer in Mijas Pueblo and in the entire municipality and today was a celebration, a tribute to all those who have visited us”, explained the councillor for Tourism,, Francisco Jeréz (Vox), who valued the event positively: “The general impression is that those who have attended have enjoyed the moment, which is what this is all about”, concluded Jerez.
The party began after midday to the rhythm of flamenco when the Flamencópolis company took to the stage and delighted those present with live singing and dancing. While they were performing, the tents set up were simmering paellas, which are so typical of our land; more than 400 servings were distributed free of charge among the attendees. Many were caught by surprise by this event, however, others attended intentionally, such as Maruja Campos, who accompanied by her husband, came from Malaga city on a a scheduled trip programmed on the occasion of the tourist day in Mijas.
Charo and her friend came from the neighbouring town, Fuengirola, and expressed how much fun they were having: “with the flamenco show and the paella they gave us, it is a wonderful day, phenomenal”.
