As reported by the Urban Mobility Department, 21,700 people used the shuttle buses that the Town Hall made available to citizens from different parts of the municipality to facilitate transportation and thus avoid access and traffic problems. The bus from the parking area located in the quarry moved 18,050 people, 2,100 from Las Lagunas, 1,260 from Osunillas and 290 from La Cala. Friday 6th and Sunday 8th of September were the busiest days, with 4,300 and 5,800 people, respectively.
As for the musical programme, the assessment also shows very outstanding results. With the exception of Saturday 7th of September, when the performance by La Loka on Tour had to be cancelled due to rain, the rest of the performances by other artists who came to the municipal booth recorded a very positive turnout. The concerts by Rebujitos, Marta Santos, Ziryab, Arcángel and Israel Fernández attracted 10,500 people.
The mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP), assesses the final outcome very positively: "It has been a great fair, in which we have all enjoyed a great atmosphere. There were no incidents during these days and respect prevailed above everything else. The concerts have been a great success and the procession, with the new dome that we have inaugurated this year, was beautiful, with hundreds and hundreds of people accompanying the Virgen de la Peña. I would like to thank the work of the security forces and municipal workers who have given their best during these days". The mayoress added that the Festivities and Traditions department is already working on next year's edition.
Cleaning and security services
For its part, the cleaning service was made up of 35 people who, during the days of the fair, removed a total of 36,000 kilos of rubbish, which represents a daily average of six tonnes.
Regarding security, the number of disturbances was one of the lowest in recent years, with no arrests made and the incidents detected were resolved quickly and without major consequences.
In total, a hundred Local Police officers were deployed, in addition to two units of the Civil Guard who were on duty every night at the fairgrounds, and a Fire Brigade.
In short, a few days in which, according to the Mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata, the most important thing has been "the coexistence of the citizens and the festive atmosphere".
