For another year, and that makes three, the Bella Vista coffee shop in Mijas Pueblo will once again be selling its charity mojitos at this fair. In 2022, this establishment from Mijas, located in the Plaza Virgen de la Peña, started the initiative, to help the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's patients in Mijas (AFA Mijas). According to one of the owners of the café, Miguel León, "we have been doing it for several years, and since we always get good results because people collaboration, we have decided to do it again".
From Wednesday 4th until Sunday 8th, from 13:30 hours, neighbours and visitors will be able to collaborate with this noble cause. "We will set up a bar at the door of the coffee shop with the aim of helping and making a small contribution to the association because it is ours, it is from the village", said Simone Oliveira, who is in charge of the establishment.
The association appreciates this type of collaboration, whose funds will be used for the different services they provide. "Funds that will be used to continue to maintain the cognitive stimulation treatment of our elderly, which is very important. The contributions of the relatives are not enough, not even the subsidies we ask for from the different organisations for the maintenance of the service", stressed the director of the day centre, Mari Carmen López.
Solidarity flowers
The group of volunteers from AFA Mijas is also selling its solidarity flowers for the fair, "which are our hallmark, and thanks to initiatives like this we have greater visibility so we are really grateful, now that the fair is coming, the establishments are buying these flowers to decorate their stores", said López, who concluded by saying that "in one way or another, the whole town of Mijas is supporting us".
It is worth remembering that AFA Mijas currently attends to 25 people, the total number of places offered in its day centre.
