The Department of Culture presents a new initiative for the summer nights, Flamenco en La Muralla, which will take place on Saturday 14th September at the Municipal Auditorium Miguel González Berral from 21 hours. The activity is carried out in collaboration with the Peña Flamenca El Pitero de Mijas and the support of MacDonald Hotels & Resorts and Caja Rural. The event will bring Julián Estrada on vocals, Manuel Silveria on guitar and Richard Gutiérrez and Alberto ‘Parraguilla’ on palmas (hand-clapping). Also performing will be the flamenco group of Tatiana Cuevas, made up of Vanesa Fernández and Fabiola Santiago on vocals, Isaac Muñoz on guitar and David Moñiz on violin.

"What we intend is that the Mijeños and those who visit us can enjoy a pleasant night of flamenco, with a top flamenco singer such as Julián Estrada and also a great local artist such as Tatiana Cuevas and her group", said the Councillor for Culture, Juan Carlos Maldonado (PMP), who presented the event together with several members of the Peña Flamenca El Pitero.

"The aim of this event is to give a bit of continuity to last year's flamenco festival, which was of incredible quality and very good; on this occasion it is not a festival as such, but the idea is to give continuity to this type of event", said the secretary of the peña, Aroa Plaza.

Collaboration

Maldonado valued the importance of public and private collaboration in this type of cultural activities. "It is expected to be an interesting night, in collaboration with the peña El Pitero, because what we want is to make Mijas a cultural reference in terms of flamenco, which is an intangible world heritage, and in Mijas there is a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of talent in this respect".

"The peña El Pitero has been in existence for three years and we are trying to do activities and things so that people participate and there is action in our town", added Plaza.

Admission to the Flamenco event at La Muralla will be free until full capacity is reached.
