On Wednesday 28th the offering of tuberose to the Virgen de la Peña took place. These flowers will accompany the patron saint of Mijas during her transfer on Thursday 29th, which Mijas Comunicación will broadcast live from 21:15 hours. The mayoress of the municipality, Ana Mata (PP), accompanied by José Ignacio Ruiz, member of the Brotherhood of the Virgen de la Peña participated in this event.
"These are activities, solemn acts that are done in the name of the Virgen de la Peña, our perpetual mayoress, and the one who safeguards all Mijeños and other people who also have their faith in her", said Mata.

On Wednesday the neighbours also had the opportunity to participate in this floral offering of tuberose. "Throughout the day, residents and devotees of the Virgen de la Peña are going to bring their flowers and place them at the foot of the altar of the Virgin for the arrangement of the religious float. It is one of the most emotional days, because they bring their flowers together with their prayers, wishes and desires to the Virgen de la Peña and tomorrow, when the Virgin travels through the streets of our town on her way to the parish, she will be carrying the flowers that the people of Mijas have so willingly placed on her altar", explained Ruiz.
The mayoress also offered her prayers to the Virgin: "I pray for all Mijeños. May she give me as mayoress and to all the corporation the strength to continue working for all those who live in our municipality, but may she also to watch over Mijas".
