The countdown starts for the transfer of the Virgen de la Peña to the church of La Inmaculada on Thursday 29th of August. The procession of the patron saint of Mijas, which will travel on the shoulders of the Local Police, will begin at 21:30. As every year, the route starts at the hermitage in the Plaza del Compás, and goes through Avenida Virgen de la Peña, Avenida de Méjico, Plaza de la Paz, Plaza de la Libertad, then it goes down towards the Plaza de la Constitución, and then up the Cuesta de la Villa and the parish church of La Inmaculada. During the procession, the patron saint will receive several petal tosses and flamenco songs. After the transfer, the neighbours will show their respect and devotion with a floral offering to which all citizens are invited. You will be able to see all the details of the procession on Mijas 3.40 TV, which will broadcast the event live in a programme starting at 21:15 hours.
