The Mijas Town Hall provides the area of La Loma with street lighting

They emphasise that, "for the first time, five streets in this part of the town have street lights" after a municipal investment of close to 60,000 euros.

The Mijas Town Hall, through the Operational Services Department, has installed street lighting in the area of La Loma. This was announced by the mayoress, Ana Mata (PP), and the councillor responsible for Operational Services and Public Lighting, Daniel Gómez Teruel (PP), who explained that this part of the municipality was lacking street lighting, so this action responds to a request from the residents.

Specifically, in streets 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, municipal workers have installed 36 lampposts made of galvanised steel, with a height of 3.5 metres. In order to be more energy efficient, they have opted for LED lighting, which not only reduces gas emissions but also reduces consumption.

"The neighbours asked us for this lighting as they were practically in the dark. We have, of course, responded to their request. For this government team all the districts of Mijas are important and that is why we work tirelessly to improve them", explained the mayoress, while she also explained that the project has had an investment of 58,690.81 euros including labour costs.

"The previous government team stopped this work, as it lacked a contract for the supply of electrical material. Now that we have the contract, we have resumed the project and it is finished, so the residents already have street lighting, something they have been asking for for years", explained Gómez Teruel.

  • Se han instalado 36 farolas de acero galvanizado.

On the other hand, the mayoress recalled that this is not the only action related to the improvement of public lighting that has been developed in recent weeks in Mijas. Work has been carried out on a 250 metre stretch of the A-7053, known as the Camino de Coín, to improve mobility and safety, as well as accesses.

In this area, a new 250-metre-long street lighting channel has been created and the foundations have been laid for the installation of eleven lampposts, seven of which are seven metres high and the rest eleven metres high, and speed reduction strips. The entire project has involved a municipal investment of close to 50,000 euros (VAT not included).
