The councillor for Operational Services of Mijas Town Hall, Daniel Gómez, and the councillor for Mobility, Marco Cortés, announced this Wednesday that the necessary work has been carried out to improve the accesses to the Mijas Golf residential area. To be specific, work has been carried out on a 250 metre stretch of the A-7053 as it passes through this area of the municipality, with the aim of improving safety and mobility.
The work involved the installation of two new pedestrian crossings on this road at the avenues Suiza and Louson Bobet. As the councillor for Operational Services explained, these two crossings were in great demand by residents to ensure the safety of pedestrians walking along this road towards the public transport and school bus stops located there.
In addition, a new 250-metre-long street lighting conduit has been created and the necessary foundations have been laid for the installation of speed bumps and eleven streetlights, seven of which are seven metres high and the rest eleven metres high. Low-consumption lighting has been chosen to reduce the cost of supply and gas emissions in order to protect the environment. The entire project required a municipal investment of around 50,000 euros (VAT not included).
For his part, Cortés insisted that this was an action which had been very much requested by the residents, as they had warned on several occasions that the road was being crossed without the necessary safety guarantees, despite the fact that it is an area with a high traffic flow. In order to implement the new traffic elements, the relevant reports have been drawn up, which show that this is a necessary measure in this part of Mijas, where, in addition to the thousands of people who live there, there are three hotel establishments and golf courses.
