The councillor for Tourism in Mijas, Francisco Jerez (Vox), announced on Thursday 1st the celebration of the First Meeting of Mijas Dance Schools, an unprecedented event which will take place on the 17th and 18th of August in the Municipal Auditorium of Mijas
This cultural gathering promises to be a tribute to local traditions and a unique opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of dance styles.
This event not only highlights our customs through the art of dance, but also reflects our commitment to the dissemination of our culture and the preservation of our roots”, said Jerez.
During the meeting weekend, attendees will be able to enjoy a varied programme that highlights both the traditional background and the evolution of the local culture. Friday will be dedicated to regional dances, with special emphasis on flamenco and other classical expressions that represent the cultural identity of Mijas. “These styles not only represent our cultural identity, but also connect us with our most deeply rooted traditions”, added Jerez.
On Saturday, there will be a show that includes modern dance styles, such as urban dance and zumba, among others. According to the councillor for Tourism, “this contrast between the classic and the contemporary reflects the richness and cultural diversity of Mijas and demonstrates how our traditions can coexist with new trends that bring freshness and dynamism to our cultural offer”
Jerez concluded his speech by thanking all the participating dance schools and the Mijas community for their effort and dedication in organising this event.
He also encouraged the audience to “enjoy the best of dance, an art that reflects the soul of our land”.
