Last weekend's celebration, 'Mijas with soul by candlelight', which lit more than 15,000 candles in the village, also included concerts, activities and workshops, which, according to the councillor for Public Roads, Mari Francis Alarcón (PP), has been "a success".
In fact, the Mijas Town Hall has calculated that 11,500 people used the shuttle bus service "which prevented traffic jams at the entrances to the town and mobility problems", said the councillor, who wanted to highlight the coordination of all the services involved, from Local Police to Civil Protection, as well as cleanliness, basic income and operational services: "The teamwork that gave very good results". The councillor wanted to congratulate all the people involved in the success of the initiative: "The feedback we have received from visitors, residents and business people has been very positive, which encourages us to continue working to offer proposals that our neighbours can enjoy and that, at the same time, boost the economic activity".
'Mijas with soul by candlelight' was held between the 5th and 7th of July and, in addition, there was a programme of concerts in the Miguel González Berral auditorium featuring 'Aidalai. Tribute to Mecano'; 'Que ni las hambres las vamo'a sentir', by the chirigotero El Selu; and 'Lorca sonoro', by Pasión Vega.
