There are only a few hours left until the start of the Las Lagunas Fair and everything is ready to go until the 30th of June. This has been announced by the councillor for Festivities of Mijas Town Hall, Silvia Marín (PP), who said that it will start on Wednesday 26th of June, at 22:00 hours, with the lighting of the fair by the mayoress, Ana Mata (PP). Wednesday 26th

The fair starts spotlighting the little ones, with the celebration of Children's Day and rides at a reduced price of 2.50 euros. In addition, from 19:00 to 21:00 hours, both the music and the characteristic sound of the rides will be eliminated so that children with special needs can enjoy the fair without acoustic barriers.

At nine o'clock, the show will kick off in the Municipal Booth, with a performance by the UP dance groups, led by the teachers Feli and Berni Gabriel.

An hour later, the artistic lighting of the fairground will be switched on and the fair will be officially inaugurated by the local authorities. Half an hour later, at 22:30 hours, the candidates for queen, king, ladies and companions of the festivities will be presented. After the election, the group Maleando will entertain the public on the same stage, while the Youth Booth will also host musical performances and activities from 19:00 hours to 05:00 in the morning.

Highlights of the programme

On Thursday 27th, the celebratory dinner for the elderly will take place at the María Zambrano school. On this occasion, 1,180 diners have registered and during the dinner "the grandmother and grandfather of the Las Lagunas Fair 2024" will be elected, said Marín. Thursday will also see the election of the children's king and queen and the baby category. Those interested in participating can register at 19:00 hours at the municipal booth until half an hour before the contest, which will begin at 21:30 hours.

On Saturday 29th of June, the Day Fair will open on Avenida Miguel Hernández at 13:00 hours, with the participation of the establishments in the area, which will have bars on the street. Marín thanked the establishments for their collaboration.

Free concerts

The concerts on this occasion will be given by DeMarco (June 27th), Vicco (June 28th), Kiko and Shara (June 29th) and Mojinos Escozíos (June 30th). All of them will be held at the Municipal Booth and admission will be free until full capacity is reached.

The councillor for Festivities also explained that the musical performances will be completed by orchestras and cover bands such as A-Compás, Maleando, Trenzao, Espotifai, Pop FM, Long Play and DJ Robert Mort with the collaboration of Yasiris. "Of course, we will also have performances by UP groups and local academies to enhance the art that we have in Mijas", concluded the councillor.
