The Andalusian Fencing Championship will be held this Saturday in Mijas

  • Alberto Gómez, assesor municipal; Mari Francis Alarcón, concejala de Deportes; y Luis Hernanz, dtor. de la Sala Adalid.

The club Adalid Mijas will participate with 15 shooters, some of them at the top of the ranking

The Andalusian fencing season comes to an end in Mijas with the Andalusian competition in the U-13, U-15 and U-17 categories.  The 15 best ranked fencers in each category will fight for the first place at the Andalusian championship in La Cala de Mijas sports centre, among them the first and second in U-15, Brian Kelly and Juande de la Fuente, both from the Fencing Club Adalid Mijas. Also participating for the Mijas club, will be Ludmila Durán who has just won silver in the Criterium U-13 championship in Madrid. 

The director of the Adalid Mijas club, Luis Hernanz, assured that "it will be an intense competition, with 120 participants".

The Town Hall is collaborating by providing the facilities not only for the club's training sessions, but also for these competitions. The councillor for Sports, Mari Francis Alarcón, invited everyone to come to this championship which "will bring together many players and families and that is also very exciting to watch". 

In addition, Hernanz said that "the club from Mijas is still progressing and plans to entering national level competitions and to be on the podium". 

On Saturday 22nd, the fights will start at 9 o'clock in the morning in the sports centre of La Cala de Mijas and will finish around 6 o'clock in the evening, the entrance to the pavilion is free.
