Officially summer starts on Thursday 20th of June. But we can say that it started last Thursday when the VIK Gran Hotel Costa del Sol in La Cala inaugurated its terrace. An event that attracted many tourism professionals such as tour operators and travel agency representatives

For the general manager of the hotel establishment, Manuel Camacho, "this is a very special event to thank our collaborators, who move tens of thousands of guests a year, for their work, and at the same time it is almost a family event to promote Mijas to all those who help us to attract our visitors".

A meeting that was a success as it was attended by more than 150 representatives of the tourism sector, including the Mijas councillor for Tourism, Juan Carlos Maldonado (PMP), who said that "we are in a privileged place on the Costa del Sol, and I want to thank Camacho for all that his hotel does for Mijas and that it is also an example of how to break the seasonality thanks to the fact that they have activity practically all year round, especially in 2024 when the figures are being so good". Maldonado also stressed the "great collaboration that this hotel has with the Town Hall and especially with the sponsorship of the municipality. The truth is that Mijas is very lucky to have such a powerful and involved hotel network", concluded the councillor.

Also present was the councillor of the government team Marco Cortés (PP), who, for his part, pointed out that this hotel "is a great tourist reference in every sense, as a tourist attraction that offers a quality service and as an example of environmental awareness and respect".

Also present at the event was Juan Miguel Marcos, vice-president of the Association of Hotel Businessmen of the Costa del Sol (Aehcos) for the Mijas area, who pointed out that "the start of the summer season is almost marked by the opening of this terrace". With regard to the figures so far this year and the forecasts for the summer season, Marcos assures us that "this first half of the year is going very well and we hope that the figures will continue and grow. If the estimates come true, we will be talking about another record summer, so we are very happy and very excited about what is to come".
