AFA Mijas incorporates techno-social care, based on the application of new technologies to the development of therapies and treatment. It has done so thanks to a European grant of 95,000 euros, which the association has earmarked to purchase computers, laptops and a digital whiteboard. This was stressed this Tuesday by the delegate of the Andalusian Government, Patricia Navarro, who together with the mayoress of the city, Ana Mata (PP), and the councillor for Social Inclusion, Melisa Ceballos (PP), visited the day centre of the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's patients and other dementias in Mijas. "Today we have been able to see that, in some way, the possibility of the treatments and therapies offered by the association has been digitalised and expanded thanks to the incorporation of new technologies", said Navarro.

During the visit, the mayoress of Mijas highlighted the ‘’strong‘’ commitment that the Town Hall has with the association of relatives and Alzheimer's patients and assured that the government team is already working on the expansion project of the centre, using the facilities of the old Civil Guard station. "We are already working so that, in the near future, we will be able to offer the association a new facility where they can care for all those people who need it. Therefore, we are working in this direction, because Mijas needs important socio-sanitary infrastructures", said the mayoress.

The manager of the AFA Mijas day centre, Mari Carmen López, thanked the support of the Junta de Andalucía, which subsidises 20 of the 25 places in the day centre, and the Town Hall for expanding these facilities: "It is a pleasure to receive the delegate and the mayoress, we hope to be able to expand the centre, which is quite small, so that we can help those people who need and demand our services". Navarro also referred to these words, assuring that "when they have more space, there is no doubt that the Junta de Andalucía will also start discussing the possibility of creating new places in the centre".
