The ‘Sabor a Málaga’ Fair comes to Mijas to promote the gastronomic wealth of Malaga. From Friday 17th of May until Sunday 19th, the agri-food brand created by the Malaga Provincial Government will hold its fifth regional fair of the season in the Plaza Virgen de la Peña in Mijas Pueblo.
Thirty-six producers from around twenty municipalities in Malaga will travel to represent the gastronomic singularities of each region. They will be selling and offering samples of their products.
On Wednesday 15th, the presentation took place at the Mijas Town Hall, attended by the mayoress, Ana Mata (PP), along with the director of ‘Sabor a Málaga’, Leonor García-Agua. The mayoress explained that “it is the second time that this fair comes to Mijas and it is an event that promotes local and high quality products. In addition, Mijas is the perfect place to hold this fair as it is the epicentre of the Western Costa del Sol”, she said.
This event aims to promote responsible consumption and sustainable and local products, the so-called zero kilometre products. “Sabor a Málaga is a great tool to support producers in Malaga and to promote employment”, said Mata.
Local chefs will also participate in this edition to promote the excellent cuisine from Mijas, in this case, Mariela Techera from the restaurant El Jardín Secreto, Esteban Sedeño from the restaurant Confusión and Fran Peinado from Alboka Gastro.
García-Agua pointed out that ‘the programme is made up of 25 activities including wine, cheese and honey tastings, workshops on EVOO, bread and products deriving from olive oil, among others’.
The UP will participate with music, dance, flamenco and theatre performances. All this is rounded off with concerts by the Las Lagunas Music Group and the Municipal Music Group.
