The Foreigners Department of Mijas organised on Thursday 16th of May an informative talk on the recent changes regarding the regularisation of holiday rentals in Spain. The laws regulating this type of rentals have recently been modified, changes that many foreign residents in our town may not be aware of, as the councillor, Mario Bravo (PP), explained, the aim of this talk was “to give them some guidance, some general criteria so that they do not make mistakes and, above all, so that they comply with the regulations and do not generate problems of coexistence, since this type of rentals have, like everything, obligations, requirements and responsibilities’.
Many of the foreign residents who own a second home in Mijas rent it out while they are not in Spain and are back in their country. And the idea is that, whoever wants to, can complete this transaction, so the Town Hall is taking the initiative with this talk in order to, said Bravo, “avoid problems in the future due to lack of knowledge”.
The meeting was advised by the law firm of María del Mar Núñez Alba and Marta Nacarino Bueno, who said, respectively, before the talk, that “we will try to clarify the new situation, the new changes and make everything as simple as possible so that people who have properties in Mijas and who want to rent them as holiday rentals can do so without having to worry” and that “we hope that after the talk, the situation is clearer and they know what they need to have, because there are things they need to know: there are deadlines and procedures that they have to take into account when doing this type of rental”.
After the talk, the attendees enjoyed some refreshments.
