Music to help. The NGO Urgent Aid to Africa organised a solidarity concert on Saturday 11th of May in the Manuel España Theatre (Las Lagunas), with the participation of several well-known artists and groups such as Pawel Rosak, B4 Midnight, 5 de Copas, Mágicos del ruido and Perdidos. The funds raised will go towards the construction of concrete water wells in Mali.
Since 2002, this group of volunteers from Malaga and its province have been working on international aid cooperation project programmes in the most needy areas of Africa. After collaborating in Ethiopia or with the Sahrawi people in Morocco, since 2008 they have focused on building concrete water wells in Mali, in a semi-desert area without electricity and where hundreds of villages still drink poor quality water, so these wells are, says the president of the group, Julio Tapas, "a prize, a celebration for the inhabitants". With the aim of financing this project, the NGO organised this charity concert "with local groups, who play blues, cover versions, a very peculiar music, which we hope people like".
Once again, music and solidarity helped to maintain this project, which, according to Tapias, "has already built 19 wells in Mali for about 11,500 euros each". Therefore, "we are very grateful to the theatre technicians who collaborate and to the staff of the Town Hall who work here, who have made everything available for free, and also to you (Mijas Comunicación) because your support is very important", concluded the president of the NGO.
Pawel Rosak was in charge of opening this charity concert, where all the funds raised will go to provide quality water to the villages in Mali.
