Animal protection groups such as ACE Shin do a great job. Last Saturday, 4th of May, we visited their facilities during their open day, where we also found a charity second hand market. At the stalls set up in the shelter located in the Diseminado La Rosa, in La Cala, we found a wide variety of household items, among other things, as well as a wide selection of books, clothes and shoes, and even cakes and biscuits, all offered by their volunteers and collaborators.
"We are trying to have a great day”, said the head of ACE Shin, Fabienne Paques during the day, who explained that “right now we have 450 dogs and around 200 cats and we are trying to do as much as possible to be able to continue with our work”. Paques recalls that adoption is the most important thing, “because if they are adopted, we can pick up and rescue more animals, we have many big dogs, because the small ones are more easily adopted, but there are many adorable and very good dogs who are waiting for their permanent family”.
Among the many attendees the event was joined by a group who came with Espacio Drang. Instilling love and care for animals in children and young people is essential. “It's the first time I've been here”, said one of the young men, Javier Cuz, “there are dogs that have just arrived, I see that some of them are under treatment, there are some older dogs, dogs with more experience, small dogs... it's quite a nice atmosphere”, added Javier.
These events are very important for groups devoted to protecting animals such as ACE Shin, as this is the main source for obtaining funds to continue with their work. “There are many ways to help, we are very happy with the help of the volunteers, who help us cleaning, walking, washing the dogs, and also in the offices, there are so many things... Everyone is welcome”, said Paques.
Anyone who wants to collaborate with ACE Shin (https://ace-charity.org) can do so through donations or by volunteering some of their time. In addition, in June the association is organising a new event, this time it will be a charity lunch.
