The councillor for Operational Services, Daniel Gómez Teruel (PP), has reported on the asphalting improvement works currently in progress in the Cerro del Águila area (Avda. Águila Coronada) and in Cortijo Acebedo (Avda. Leopoldo Werner). Altogether, the works will cover an area of 11,700 square metres with a total budget of 156,982.53 euros.
In Cerro del Águila, work is being carried out from the racecourse roundabout to the entrance to the urbanisation, where 1,380 tonnes of asphalt are being distributed and, in addition, milling work is being carried out in certain locations where it is required, such as in an area where there was a water pond.
The work began on April 3rd and since then has been progressing gradually. As the councillor pointed out, they expect the work to be finished this week: "We started last week with the milling and I think that this week we will finish with the asphalting, painting and signposting to have the road in perfect condition".
In Cortijo Acebedo, 300 tonnes of asphalt are being used. The municipal workers are also in charge of repairing the manholes that have been affected and repainting all the road signs up to the border with Fuengirola. "We have repaired and covered several holes. In those parts where there were water ponds causing a risk of aquaplaning we have asphalted the road and created a slope to evacuate the water in case of rain".
The councillor explained that this is an improvement highly demanded, as the road was quite deteriorated due to the continuous traffic of vehicles. "It is an action that was strongly demanded by the residents because there were many potholes, which did not guarantee the best conditions for the transit of vehicles. We will continue working in different parts of the municipality, as in the case of Avenida del Compás, where we have already started milling", said Gómez Teruel.
