The Cerrado del Águila courts will host this tournament and, in addition, the first round of the ‘XI National Circuit of the Padel Sord Tour 2024’

With inclusive padel, fortunately, more and more limitations are being broken down by sport. This weekend, Mijas will show this by hosting, for the first time, the I European Deaf Padel Tour and, for the third time, the first round of the XI National Circuit of the ‘Padel Sord Tour 2024’. This Wednesday, both competitions were presented at the Cerrado del Águila facilities. Here, the president of the Andalusian club Padel Sord, Pilar Moreno, stressed that "padel is accessible because it is a social and integration sport, which welcomes us in every way, it is an inclusive sport, and Cerrado del Águila has always been the home of padel for the deaf, we are very grateful to them, along with the FAP (Andalusian Padel Federation)".

The Andalusian Padel Federation (FAP) is pleased to participate and promote integration in this sport, as highlighted by its president, José Pérez, who said that "these tournaments are an integration for people with hearing loss, so, without a doubt, we made the national circuit official, and for the first time this year, when the European federation was created, they also asked us for help to make the European circuit official, which includes, in addition to this one, a tournament in France and another in Italy".

The Cerrado del Águila courts will host these competitions on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th of March, which will bring together 110 athletes, who will play in the men's, women's and +50 categories. "We try to support all kinds of people with special abilities and hearing loss is one of them and we have been supporting them for many years", said the club's manager, Jesús Marquet.

The Mijas Town Hall collaborates with these tournaments and continues to keep on making Mijas the headquarters for padel. This is what the councillor for sports, Mari Francis Alarcón (PP) said: "They asked for it, also, through the federation, so we are very happy to receive them here; I hope it goes well and we anticipate that in November we will hold another one. Mijas continues to be at the forefront of padel because we have very good facilities, the federation counts on our municipality to hold its tournaments here. Most of the Andalusian circuits are played here".

As a sign of the municipality's support for these athletes, the councillor concluded her presentation with a message in sign language, which said: "Mijas supports padel for deaf people".
