The proposal was made with recycled materials and a variety of paints to express one's own creativity

On Thursday, 7th of March, the Soroptimist International association organised an art workshop with recycled material on emotional creativity. This was their contribution to the municipal programme of activities 'Mujeres sin +', held on the occasion of International Women's Day. The participants enjoyed this conscious art technique that allows connecting with one's inner self.

With the help of Veronique Favrat, painter and instructor of this emotional creativity workshop, the participants were able to connect with their inner self and their most unconscious part to release emotions and mental burdens. According to Favrat, "this proposal is focused on the world of art therapy. Through signs and a special way of guiding, I am going to lead them to touch their inner emotions and connect with their subconscious. I play music for them to relax. Then we will put it down on paper and once the drawings are finished, they will name them and share them, so that each person can express what they have done".

Soroptimist always works with a focus on the specific needs of women, particularly foreign women, when living in a new country. According to the association's treasurer, Cornelia Albadalejo, "women have one of the most important mottos we have in the association, women's empowerment and equality. We do a lot of activities in this regard. Of course, we also help women who don't speak Spanish on other issues, such as gender violence. We offer them special support, and here we see that there is a great need for coordination between the authorities and foreign women.

Councillors Mari Francis Alarcón and Daniel Gómez Teruel wanted to participate in the proposal and directly support these activities organised by the Mijas Department of Family and Equal Opportunities. According to the deputy mayor, Daniel Gómez Teruel, "this is an art workshop by Soroptimist, one of the associations in the municipality that is most committed to the neighbours, mainly regarding women's issues. They also involve men and the population in general. It is clear that in this same workshop there are also men who are committed and work on the same level as the women".
