On Thursday 29th, the Operational Services warehouse received the equipment requested by the Parks and Gardens employees. Electrical machinery and bicycles are part of the equipment that the employees of this department will be using immediately. "The pruning team had been asking for some time about machinery and climbing equipment, that we should bring it up to 21st century standards", said the councillor for Parks and Gardens, Daniel Gómez Teruel (PP), on a visit to the facilities.
One of the priorities was to upgrade the material used for garden work, including pruning. "We have obtained the best options available on the market to avoid polluting, we have incorporated electric machinery, which are very necessary for pruning palm trees and thus avoid using so many lorries", Gómez Teruel pointed out.
Another useful material introduced for pruning is the metal ladders with protection for the employees, which will be used to work in streets where there are low trees, avoiding the use of trucks, which consume a lot of gasoil. "We are happy with the ladders, because we will use them in places where we cannot use the trucks and they are very comfortable to work with because they are very stable", said Jacobo Rueda, an employee at the Mijas Town Hall.
"The increase in safety is essential in regard to the new machinery. The staff have been asking for safe pruning equipment and we have looked for the best available, anti-cut gloves with protection in all vital areas of the body, helmets and glasses so that they can be as safe as possible", said the councillor.
