The Platform for Animal Welfare and the Environment in Mijas claims that it was created in response to the "great social debate" generated by the methods used with wild boars, something which, in its opinion, has generated "deep concern" in society. It also states that it was created "with the aim of bringing together the voices of all the people and organisations in the municipality who share" the concern "for animal welfare and the protection of the environment". For this group, "there are ethical alternatives for animal management in the municipality". It also calls for neighbourhood participation.
