It was a demand from the neighbours for the last seven years and it has come about after the Mijas Town Hall reached an agreement with the community of owners

For years, the neighbours of the Riviera del Sol urbanization have been demanding extended opening hours in the evenings and weekends, as well as the opening of the Princesa Diana Park to all users of the municipality, not just to its residents. After the Mijas Town Hall reached an agreement with the community of owners, this green space will be open from Monday to Friday until 7pm and on weekends. So far its opening hours were from 8am to 1:30pm.

As the councillor for Urban Planning, Lourdes Burgos (PP), explained, "as we know, here in Riviera there is a community of neighbours from phase I and II, and they have been the ones in charge of the opening and closing of this park. Thanks to the public-private collaboration this agreement is possible". Meanwhile, the vice-president of the Riviera neighbours' association, María Amaya San Pedro, said "we have been fighting for it for seven years, the children could not understand having office hours, a timetable just for children who don't go to school. We think it's great, now we don't have to take the car to move or go to La Cala to enjoy a park. This park is wonderful.”

To make this possible, the employees of 'Renta Básica' (Basic Income) will be in charge of closing the park from Monday to Friday and opening it on weekends and holidays. The employees of this community will be in charge of opening it from Monday to Friday. "It is a park with easy access. A place for the use and benefit of children, it was a waste that they could not use it in the afternoons and weekends when they do not have school and can come with their parents to play in this beautiful environment," said the councillor of Parks and Gardens, Daniel Gómez Teruel (PP).

The vice-president of the community of Riviera Fase I and II, Cristina Minyaylyk, said that "we are very happy, especially because children will enjoy it much more. I came to this park 17 years ago and it had nothing to do with what it is now, this is thanks to our colleagues in the community who have managed to open it up and bring it to life".

The Princesa Diana Park is a green space with games for children and bio-healthy equipment, the only one like that in the area.
