Employees and clients of Los Amigos Beach Club Resort donate blood

  • They have done so, as they do every year, after asking the Regional Blood Transfusion mobile unit to visit their establishment

This time, it was the donors who made the request to the Regional Blood Transfusion Centre of Malaga, willing to support its work. Once again, the employees of the Los Amigos Beach Club Resort (in Urbanización Playamarina) have made this gesture, which, as we always say, can save lives. "Every year, we organise a blood donation in our facilities, in this way we encourage the employees to participate; the truth is that we are very happy with the result", said the HR prevention technician of the establishment, Diego Romero.

The Regional Blood Transfusion Centre of Malaga, attended the request and made another gesture, under the campaign 'For the love of art, donate blood', conducted this month. They are giving all donors invitations to visit the main cultural centres and museums in Malaga: The Picasso Museum, Casa Natal Picasso, Pompidou Centre, Russian Museum Collection, Carmen Thyssen Museum, La Alcazaba, Gibralfaro Castle, Cathedral Museum, Wine Museum, Museum of Popular Arts and Customs and Interactive Music Museum MIMMA. "It's about donating for the love of art, a gesture which, today on Valentine's Day, makes much more sense, what better than donating life to other people who need it", said Noemí Vázquez, a doctor from the Regional Blood Transfusion Centre of Málaga.

Donating blood is always necessary, especially in our province, as "Malaga is a province that needs a lot of blood because it has very large hospitals, with oncology patients, polytrauma patients, people who need many donations, both regular and casual", added the doctor, who reminded us that the donation is safe, easy and quick: "the donation takes ten minutes and then they spend another ten minutes drinking liquids or eating something to fully recover".

More donations

Apart from this event and the campaign, the mobile unit will return to Mijas next week. It will stop in Las Lagunas on Wednesday 21st, at the ‘Casa de la Cultura’, from 17 to 21 hours; and on the 22nd, next to the Hipercor, from 10 to 14 and from 17 to 21 hours. Our municipality is one of the most supportive in this matter, as indicated by the Health Councillor of the Mijas Town Hall, Marco Cortés (PP), who invited "all Mijas citizens to donate blood every time this bus stops by the municipality, which it does periodically. You can donate blood four times a year and it is recommended, it is a small gesture that can help many people, we never know when it will be needed, so you have to donate, as we all may need it at a certain point in our lives".
