The X edition of the Villa Mijas ‘Jornadas de Historia y Etnografía’ (History and Ethnography conference, in Spanish), will be this Friday, 16th of February, and Saturday, 17th of February. Twenty speakers will offer conferences talking about subjects as varied as the plagues or the Hispano-Roman marble of Mijas, popular Easter's songs or what our grandparents sang, or even the history of the Mijeños who went to Hawaii looking for a new life, without forgetting the development of Mijas, not only in the last decades, but throughout the last centuries.
The conference will start on Friday at 17:00 hours in the assembly hall of the Mijas Town Hall, the last conference of the day will start at 20:00 hours. On Saturday 17th, the lectures will resume at 11:00 hours, the last one will be at 20:00 hours. All talks are open to the public, until full capacity is reached. Once the conferences are held, the Culture Department will be responsible for promoting all the conferences, in fact, during this edition, the edited copies of the IX Villa Mijas History and Ethnography Conference will be handed out.
