The Intervention Unit of the Mijas Local Police located a stolen vehicle in the Calypso area last weekend. The officers, while carrying out a surveillance service, observed suspicious movements on the part of the two occupants of a vehicle parked on the public road, who, when confronted by the police, suddenly left. 

The officers stopped them and after asking for their documents they were able to verify that the vehicle was stolen and that it was circulating without compulsory insurance. The driver was also not in possession of a driving licence. The two individuals were arrested as alleged perpetrators of an offence of theft and a crime against road safety, and criminal proceedings were opened against them. The detainees were brought before the courts and taken to the Guardia Civil.
