The CADE in Mijas is the result of the incorporation in 2018 of the Mijas Business School to the actions developed by Andalucía Emprende

The Department of University, Research and Innovation (CUII), through the Andalucía Emprende Public Foundation, and the Mijas Town Hall have agreed to renew the agreement for the continuity of the Andalusian Centre for Entrepreneurship (CADE) in the municipality.

This was agreed during the meeting between the territorial delegate in Malaga, Miguel Briones; the provincial secretary general of the CUII, María Jesús Vera, and the mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP). The continuity of the collaboration between the two institutions will allow both to maintain the projects already developed and the implementation of new entrepreneurial initiatives.

The CADE in Mijas is the result of the incorporation in 2018 of the Mijas Business School to the actions developed by Andalucía Emprende in the municipality. The agreement between institutions allows the cession of space by the municipality for the team of Andalucía Emprende technicians, as well as four shared business accommodation spaces. It provides advice and support to entrepreneurs and businesspeople from Mijas and Fuengirola for the implementation of their business ideas, serving an area with a population of around 180,000 inhabitants.

Companies

During 2023, the activities of the Mijas Entrepreneurship Centre led to the creation of 118 companies, employing a total of 125 people. However, the number of users of the service is close to 2,000 (1,962). With regard to the accommodation, there are currently three companies, linked to various sectors, such as environmental consultancy, landscaping and real estate activities.

Among the initiatives developed by the CADE of Mijas in collaboration with the Town Hall itself, the Efeso Project stands out, aimed at training vulnerable groups distant from the labour market: long-term unemployed, over 45 years old, people with a disability equal to or greater than 33%, foreigners or people in a situation of vulnerability accredited by the social services.

Briones wanted to value the scope of this collaboration between institutions pointing out that "the renewal of the agreement of the CADE of Mijas shows that the harmony between the Junta and the Town Hall brings a direct benefit to the citizens. In this specific case, the magnitude and depth of the projects developed gives a special value to the centre, which is a pillar in the attention to groups with greater difficulties of labour insertion in the municipality".

For her part, Mata pointed out that "the renewal of this agreement demonstrates, once again, the commitment of this government team to maintain fluid and permanent relations with all institutions, as it has a direct and positive impact on the welfare of all residents. The joint work between the Town Hall and the Andalusian Regional Government is enormously beneficial for the municipality and we will continue to work along these lines for the good of Mijas".

Entrepreneurship Centres

In total, 'Andalucía Emprende' has 36 entrepreneurship centres and 12 information points in the province of Malaga.
