Officers from the plainclothes unit of the Mijas Local Police recently located a man behaving suspiciously who was finally arrested 'in fraganti' while he was burning an area with vegetation, taking as evidence of the crime a rucksack with gloves, lighters and clothes to hide his face.

The detainee was then informed of his legal rights and taken to the Guardia Civil to be brought before the courts. On the other hand, the officers who participated in the operation were assisted by several citizens to extinguish the fire set by the man. 

This arrest, according to the Local Police, is the result of a special surveillance campaign carried out in recent weeks in areas of Mijas affected by fires, some of them close to homes.
