The Las Lagunas Theatre presents its programme for the first quarter of the year. As always, there will be something for everyone, for children, comedy, solidarity events, school theatre and social events such as the International Women's Day gala. This programme seeks the involvement of local spectators. According to the councillor responsible for Culture, Juan Carlos Maldonado (PMP), "this programme reflects some twenty plays of different considerations, both from the point of view of comedy, tragedy and musicals, without forgetting the different sensibilities, such as children's audiences with plays for the whole family. In this way we respond to all the cultural concerns that Mijas has, both for our neighbours and for those from the surrounding area who wish to attend. In addition, with this distribution we try to give content to the theatre with other activities that have traditionally been carried out such as the celebration of international days.
This weekend we will have Teatro Mijas with the play 'Yerma' in aid of the local assembly of the Red Cross and a solidarity ticket for 6 euros. The family theatre brings us several proposals. According to Maldonado, "from Culture we always take into account the different social sensitivities. We are very much in favour of those works or activities that have a solidarity aspect. We want to promote them because culture also has that social dimension that gives it additional value. In addition, we are always committed to local theatre and different charity events".
School theatre
The students of the Mijas schools will enjoy several plays, adapted to different ages, with which the aim is to awaken interest in culture from an early age. The selected plays are 'Tuyo Cid', 'Sintiendo ODS', '¿Estás ahí?' by La Carpa Teatro, 'Peter Pan' and 'The Bremen town musicians'.
