The Youth Department of the Mijas Town Hall presented this Monday a new youth exchange programme, this time to Tarouca, located in the north of the neighbouring country of Portugal. Up to six youths from the municipality will be able to participate in this educational experience, which will take place between the 19th and 25th of March. 

According to the councillor responsible for this department, Mari Francis Alarcón (PP), "those interested must be between 18 and 30 years old, and all they have to do is apply before January 22nd at the Youth Department, located in the Las Lagunas Theatre". If they prefer to do it online, they can obtain more information through this website and apply for the exchange by filling in the online form.

In addition to getting to know Tarouca, the participants will work on a project during their stay in the village, the theme of which will revolve around social problems in rural areas. In order to prepare it from Mijas, the selected participants will have to attend different meetings at the Youth Office, the first one on Thursday 25th of January, at 17:00 hours.

As in previous editions, the Erasmus+ programme finances 100% of the accommodation, food and planned activities, and allocates a grant for travel expenses of 275 euros (according to the European programme regulations). The participant must pay the difference if this amount is exceeded. 

"We encourage all young people to sign up for this exchange, which is very interesting because you meet many people from other countries", said Alarcón, adding that "on this occasion young people from Italy, Romania, Greece, Portugal and Croatia, among other countries, will be attending, so it will be a very enriching experience.
