Mijas continues among the national handball elite

  • Five players are part of the Andalusian cadet and infant national teams
  • Equipo cadete femenino del San Francisco de Asís Mijas.

Martina Negrón, Ana & Sofía Jaime, cadets, Martina Fuentes and Aroa Beltrán, infants, have just returned from the Spanish Championships with flying colours

We take stock of the participation of up to 5 players in the San Francisco de Asís Balonmano Mijas team in the CESA, Spanish Championship of Autonomic Selections.  In the cadet team 3 players have participated who last year were already Spanish champions with the green and white team.  We went to the training session at the school to find out how they experienced this championship, which did not start as they would have liked, but ended with victory in the final of the Spanish Cup, a sub-category within the CESA, against the Asturias national team.  Sofia Jaime could not attend the training, but her sister, Ana Jaime Sanchez confirmed that "we have done our best, at first it was not possible, but we did well in the Cup and next year we will have to climb and do very well".  Ana, who has been progressing magnificently since she was a fry with Chema Jiménez, said that this sport "brings me great happiness, concentration, encouragement, and is like my second family".  Martina Negrón Aguilar is another of the cadet players, for her "the fact that we are many first year players has complicated the start of the championship, but we are sure that we have done our best and at least we have a medal, but we have to keep working".  The coach of the cadet team is Eduardo Urbaneja who said he felt "very proud of them and the whole team for the enthusiasm they show, for the desire to learn and work, this generation has been giving us great joy for a long time, the three are very fast, very strong and understand the game very well".  On Thursday we have also visited the infant team training session in Las Cañadas to see Aroa Beltrán and Martina Fuentes, who brilliantly finished fourth in the Spanish Championship with the Andalusian girls' national team.
