The subsidies for functional diversity distribute almost 500,000 euros to 189 families

  • The beneficiaries from Mijas will receive the amount granted in the next few days
  • Las familias pueden sufragar los costes derivados de las terapias y gastos médicos, entre otros.

These subsidies allow defraying costs derived from therapies, devices, material or medical expenses necessary in each case

The Mijas Town Hall, through the Department for Social Inclusion, has published the final list of the 189 families in the municipality who will benefit from the grants for persons with functional diversity. A total of 456,120 euros will be distributed among the residents who meet the established requirements.

These grants are of great use to families to defray the costs of therapies, medical expenses or the purchase of any type of device or material that each person may need, among other expenses.

The aid is subsidised and is governed by the ordinance regulating aid to persons with functional diversity of December 10th 2021. This ordinance contemplates direct aid that is divided into three ranges depending, among other values, on the degree of dependency, functional diversity and the economic situation of the families claiming the aid. These ranges are 1,800, 2,520 and 3,240 euros, which will be paid in a single instalment in the next few days.

The requirements to qualify for this aid are to have a recognised and valid degree of disability equal to or greater than 45% or 33% in the case of children under 18 years of age; to be registered and reside in Mijas for at least 3 years; to be up to date with tax obligations to the Town Hall and not to exceed the economic scale.

The councillor for the area, Melisa Ceballos (PP), pointed out that it is a priority of this government team to look after the most vulnerable and "one of the objectives of this council is to work so that this aid reaches the greatest number of people". In this regard, the councillor pointed out that "we are going to study the current by-laws so that, if necessary, we can make the required modifications to ensure that this aid reaches the most residents".
