The Mijas Town Hall, through the Department for Infrastructures and Works, has given the green light to the replacement of the Monteparaíso tank, located in urbanisation Sitio de Calahonda. This project has a budget of 1,034,999 euros, which will be assumed by Acosol and charged to the Local Improvement Canon. At present, the water service in Sitio de Calahonda has six reservoirs, as well as various pumping stations.
One of these, known as the Monteparaíso reservoir, is itself made up of three reservoirs connected to each other by pipes. Two of them have limited capacity (100-150 m3) and have not been in use for some time. The third, with a larger capacity (900 m3) shows fissures due to its age, as well as the instability of the land on which it is located.
For this reason, the current tanks will be demolished and the land adapted, which will involve the construction of a reinforced concrete regulating tank, located on the surface, with a 3,000 m3 capacity.
As Juan José Torres Trella (PP), councillor for Infrastructures and Works of the Mijas Town Hall, acknowledged, " the authorisation we have issued is an essential step for Acosol to be able to undertake this project, which is so necessary not only for the proper functioning of the deposit, but also to guarantee the correct conservation of such a necessary asset as is water".
