The arrival of a cold front in the province of Malaga will cause temperatures to drop by 10 degrees in a single day and the strong wind with the possibility of showers will prevail over the next few days. The anticyclone that has left us with temperatures of up to 23 degrees on Wednesday in some areas will disappear.
Aemet (Spanish Meteorological Agency) warns of the entry of two consecutive fronts that will affect us over the next few days. A significant drop in the temperatures and strong winds will be the main features. This is also confirmed by Cristóbal Gambero, our weather observer and head of the Meteoclimatic station in Mijas Pueblo. "We will experience an important change in the weather, I would say a radical one. We are going to move from very stable weather, today Wednesday for example we exceeded 20 degrees in many places. The change is going to come from a cold front that is going to enter from the west. It's going to leave us with rain, we don't expect heavy rain, but it will break the dynamic of the last few weeks and, above all, the most important thing will be the subsequent wind and cold on the eve of the Three Kings and on Three Kings' Day", assured Gambero.
Weather for the parades
We will have to dress warmly for the most magical night of the year for the children, not like on Wednesday, when tourists and locals strolled around in short sleeves, and be careful with moving elements because of the strong wind. According to the forecast, tomorrow the weather will change and there is a chance of some light showers. Gambero stated: "I expect rain between the afternoon of tomorrow Thursday and Friday morning, but the risk is much lower for the parades. In this case, we will have to be careful because the wind will be strong. We'll have to dress warmly because it's going to be quite cool, the temperatures could drop by 8 or 10 degrees compared to today, Wednesday".
On Friday, the highlight will be the drop in snow levels to 1,000 metres, with frost inland and strong westerly winds on the coast, with very strong gusts. The minimum temperatures in town could be as low as 5 or 6 degrees. Don't forget that if some rain falls it will also be a good Epiphany present for our area.
Acknowledgement
Cristobal Gambero, our local weatherman, has also received recognition from the Andalusian public television station, Canal Sur, for his collaboration in the weather programmes. "The truth is that it was a surprise, I didn't expect it. It was Andalusian public television in its programme Nuestro Tiempo (Our Weather) that gave me this diploma. I have been collaborating with them for 12 or 13 years. It was for my work in providing and documenting the meteorological situation in Mijas. This makes me continue with even more enthusiasm and hard work in this beautiful hobby as a meteorologist and to carry the name of my town throughout Andalusia", assured Gambero.
