This Friday, the Assembly of the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol approved the General Budget for the year 2024, which amounts to 138,438,824 euros. The president of the corporation, Manuel Cardeña, stressed that "these budgets are the largest in the history of this institution to be a fundamental support for the municipalities of the association. These new financial accounts will mean a considerable improvement in such important public services for the citizens of the Costa del Sol as the treatment of waste and recycling and the fight against drought, in addition, we have the objective of leaving the debt to concessionaires at zero by 2024".

The Budget for the Mancomunidad amounts to 46,678,676 euros, while that of the public water company, Acosol SA, is 98,884,828 euros. 

The Finance Delegate, Ana Velasco, explained that, in terms of income, "the ordinary annual contributions of the municipalities of the Mancomunidad represent only 2.14% of the total income of the Mancomunidad", and the overall amount is maintained without prejudice to the repercussion that corresponds to each municipality due to the variation in its current income and its population by right.

With regard to Integrated Urban Waste Management, it has been estimated that 410,000 tonnes will reach the Casares plant during the financial year 2024. With regard to investments, an amount of 1,534,551 euros is foreseen for 2024, including the investment canon and improvements to the treatment plant.
