The Mijas Town Hall has repaired and put into operation the wall clocks of the San Sebastian hermitage, the Town Hall and the Branch Offices in La Cala, which had not been working for a year. According to the government team, the clocks had no maintenance contract and, until now, only occasional repairs were carried out for the New Year's Eve chimes. At the beginning of 2024, the Facilities Management Department will sign a contract to guarantee the maintenance of the clocks throughout the year.
The repairs to the three clocks have incurred a total cost of 1,471.81 euros. Repairs which ensure that they are set to the correct time and work properly and punctually.
The breakdown of the clock located on the façade of the Mijas Town Hall required 615.62 euros and included the repair of the sound board, adjustment of the microphone, stop/advance of the hands and replacement of the amplifier output. In the case of the clock at La Cala Branch Offices, the microphone and stop/advance of the hands were repaired for an amount of 279.69 euros. The repair of the clock at the San Sebastián chapel in Mijas Pueblo, which is the responsibility of the Town Hall due to its municipal ownership, has cost 321.06 euros, and a self-propelled mobile crane was needed to access it.
