The rider and his horse Malagueño LXXXIII were also the winners in the Final of the ANCCE Tourism of Andalusia Cup held in Seville

This Wednesday, mayoress, Ana Mata, welcomed José Daniel Martín Dockx, the rider from Mijas, to congratulate him on her behalf and on that of the entire corporation for his recent victories in the Dressage competitions, in which he participated with his horse, Malagueño LXXXIII.

Martín Dockx has finished the season with two victories, both of them at home. At the end of November, he took part in the Kür Gran Premio Trofeo Grupo Eulen, held at Ifema Madrid Horse Week, becoming World Dressage Champion, a historic title in his sporting career. But that is not the last of José Daniel's triumphs; just a few days later, he attended the International Horse Show (SICAB) in Seville with his purebred Spanish horse, and they repeated their first position in the Grand Prix held in the Sevillian arena.

Ana Mata congratulated the sportsman and invited him to sign the book of honour of the Town Hall, as well as presenting him with an engraving of the Virgen de la Peña on behalf of the Mijas Town Hall for these achievements. Mata urged us to "feel proud that the first Spanish and world champion in the dressage modality is from our municipality".

For his part, Dockx said that as a native of Mijas "it is a source of pride and satisfaction to be recognised in your town" and stated his surprise "at the repercussions that it has had beyond the enthusiasts and the sector".

After a great season, Marín Dockx is now considering a short break and has in mind more stages of the World Cup, the next one in February in Doha, as well as returning to participate in what would be his third Olympic Games, after London and Rio de Janeiro, to be held next summer in Paris.

In addition to preparing his tests at the Costa del Sol Racecourse, Martín Dockx also works as a teacher at Finca la Zambomba, located in Mijas Costa. This is where he teaches his knowledge and passes on his passion for horses to youths, some of whom have already become national champions.
