The champions of the competition were the trio formed by Lorenzo Méndez, Daniel Martínez and Juan Carlos Mata.  They were followed by Sergio Martín, Lutito and Miguel Ángel Martín.  In the women's category, the champions were Mari Carmen Agea and Claudia San Juan, with Silvia Soriano and María Isabel Bosque in second place.  In the original type competition, David Lillo took first place with 24 balls and Irene Clara with 16 points.  A total of 330 players from more than 15 countries gathered at the fairgrounds of La Cala de Mijas for the 1st International Petanque Open Costazul Villa de Mijas, which is another step forward for the town in which the Ciudad de Málaga is held at national and above all regional level.  "In Mijas, pétanque is very popular, the Town Hall is going to collaborate with the club because we want to finish the works that were inaugurated temporarily, so that they have decent installations", said the mayoress, Ana Mata (PP).  "It is an important activity when it comes to promoting sport and health in the municipality, and that is why we will continue to support this type of events", commented the councillor for Por Mi Pueblo, Juan Carlos Maldonado.  For the councillor for Seniors, Silvia Marín (PP), "pétanque is important in Mijas, we want the club to feel important and to federate in order to be able to compete in events like these".  According to the delegate of the Andalusian Federation, José María Garbero, "Mijas is starting to be noticed in international competitions with events like this, we have worked hard and we are getting feedback that the participants are very happy".
