Teachers, students and their families, because these are also involved, are preparing for the big Christmas party at the Universidad Popular (UP) (Open University), which this year is once again being held over two days, given the large number of people taking part. On December 12th and 13th, some 500 students will take to the stage of the Teatro Las Lagunas. "Each day, some 250 students from the different piano, guitar, ballet, flamenco dance and tai chi workshops that are taught daily at the UP will perform", explained the councillor for the area, Melisa Ceballos (PP).

The Christmas Gala will start both days, Tuesday and Wednesday, at 17:00 hours. Our music bands are also joining in the festivities. The Las Lagunas Musical Association is already tuning its instruments to offer us a Christmas concert, in which it will play some of its greatest hits. The concert will take place on December 15th at 19:30 at the Las Lagunas Theatre. 

One day later, on the 16th of December, the Mijas Music Band will hold its IV Christmas Concert. It will take place in the marquee on the Plaza Virgen de la Peña (Mijas Village) at 19:00 hours. Francisco Jesús Valcárcel conducts the band, which has prepared a selection of scores for the festive season.

"I want to invite everyone to participate in these Christmas events, which are going to be wonderful and I think that families need to be encouraged to come to these events; Mijas this year more than ever wants to celebrate Christmas and we are going to do it in the best way possible, all together and putting in value all the traditions of these dates", concluded the councillor.
