Dance and feelings in the new pictorial exhibition at the Mijas Tourist Office

  • The collection can be visited throughout the month of December

Pedro Benítez 'Zetineb' is the author of this exhibition, who dedicates his paintings to the human figure, the face and, especially, to the gaze

The Mijas Pueblo Tourist Office is hosting an exhibition throughout the month of December by Pedro Benítez Paloma 'Zetineb', a painter from Malaga based in La Cala de Mijas, who, on this occasion, is showing the public a collection of 13 works, giving all the prominence to the human figure, the face and, especially, the gaze.

Danza y sentimiento' (Dance and feeling) is the name of the pictorial collection, which includes works dedicated to ballet, others to flamenco and several portraits of people of different ethnicities. "Many people tell me that my works express a lot of feeling through the gaze, and this is something to which I really dedicate a lot of time and attention", explains the artist, adding that "some paintings are real, with models, but I tend to paint more with photographs obtained externally".

The author also points out that his paintings have been done in oil, acrylic and pastel, "and most of them are done with the fresco on dry technique, that is, you have to wait until the layers are dry to continue painting, so the process is slower than when it is fresco on fresco".

This is the first time that the artist from Malaga has exhibited in our municipality, having previously shown his work in other cities such as Madrid, Barcelona and Paris. In this regard, the councillor for Culture and Tourism Promotion of the Mijas Town Hall, Juan Carlos Maldonado (PMP), said at the opening of the exhibition (Wednesday 6th of December) that "culture is another element in our tourist offer that we must continue to promote, so the Tourist Office is a good place to host this type of work, and also help to make known local artists and, in this case, Pedro Benítez from Malaga".

Also agreeing with this idea was the councillor of the government team Mario Bravo (PP), who added that "Benítez or Zetineb, as he wants to be known artistically, is a relatively young person but is becoming increasingly well-known in the art world, so we wish him the best of luck in this exhibition and in the next ones he organises".

The exhibition will remain at the Mijas Pueblo Tourist Office throughout the month of December, from Monday to Friday, during normal opening hours.
