This year, the Mijas Town Hall, taking into account the existing situation of drought, has reduced the number of trees planted

The Mijas Town Hall has decorated several spots in the municipality with 9,000 plants in different colours to complete the Christmas decorations. The Parks and Gardens Department, in coordination with Renta Básica, are working on these planting works which will bring colour to the town, promote tourism and benefit the local commerce.

There will be 6,000 cyclamen and 3,000 poinsettias, respectively, which will adorn the surroundings of symbolic municipal buildings and the squares of Mijas. These species have been chosen for their low water consumption and their resistance to adverse weather conditions, which will allow them to last longer. The interiors of the buildings will also be decorated with poinsettias and Christmas trees handmade with dried plants.

Some of the municipal buildings that will be beautified are: the Mijas Town Hall, the Branch Offices, the Cultural Centre in Las Lagunas, the Cultural Centre in La Cala, the Las Lagunas Theatre, the Pensioners' Homes, the Open University, the hostel, sports centres, the Fire Brigade, the Red Cross, Civil Protection, the Police, the Building for Promotion, among other places. This year, the Mijas Town Hall, taking into account the situation with the drought, has reduced the number of trees planted.
